Choosing Your Card
- Become present. Imagine yourself in the deep silence of the bear cave. Take a few deep breaths. Feel fully present in your body. Feel yourself seated in your chair or feet on the ground. Sometimes it is help ful to close your eyes. Connect to your heart center.
- Ask. Concentrate on your question or say it out loud. Clear questions will result in clear answers. Make sure you have clarity before asking your question.
- Shuffle with the deck face down.
- Draw a card. While the cards are in your hand you can divide the pack in half and turn one half over to reveal your card. Or you can spread the cards out on a surface. You will know which card to choose by simply being guided to one. Or you will find your own unique way for choosing the card.
Use only the green and red light cards. The question must be a yes/no question. Example: “Should I take the job with xyz?” A more powerful question would be: “Is it for my highest and best that I take the job with xyz?”
Use the entire deck. It is up to you if you want to include or exclude the green and red light. It can be done both ways.
If you want to ask a general question and then ask further yes/no questions about the subject, you may prefer to have the green and red light cards set aside for that purpose.
You can simply ask your question. Or you may want to ask your higher self for the guidance to your card/answer. Decide who it is you are calling on for guidance when using the cards. Is it your own innate wisdom, your higher self, your guides, or Source? Whatever resonates most deeply within yourself. I ask: “To my highest, most benevolent guides, what is it you would most like me to know right now?”; “To my highest most benevolent guides, what is the message to me for this day?”; or “What is the energy of this day?” You will have your own questions based on your specific circumstances. Perhaps in relationship to your job, a career change, a partner, or for any minor or major crossroad in your life.
When you receive a card that you don’t fully understand you can choose another card to help give you more clarification and understand the meaning of the first card on a deeper level. Make sure to state that intention when choosing another card for more to be revealed and understood. Such as: “Please give me deeper clarity on the meaning of ___ card.”
You can also reframe or refine your question to be more specific. Sometimes when I choose a card for the day I have no idea what it means. I will then use the red light/green light
cards to narrow it down.
I will think of different people or events that will occur in the day and ask if it refers to that specific thing. Sometimes I get my answers. Other times it takes the unfolding of the day for me have the “AHA, that is what my card meant.” The other day I drew speed bump, not knowing at the time what it meant. I finally realized what the speed bump pertained to. It was very helpful in reminding me not to focus on what was slowing me down, on the speed bump, but instead to keep my eyes focused on the bigger picture, the goal! Once you are able to listen very carefully to your inner voice, you will start to see you already know the answers. You will find that often you will not be surprised by what card you choose! This is a great tool for getting in touch and confirming what you already know. Acknowledge yourself! Give thanks and appreciation for the guidance you have been given.
