Clay pot“Spend time each day listening to your soul,” a soul intuitive told me at the beginning of December 2012, one of the best pieces of advice I have ever been given.  The healer instructed me to get to know my soul, to hear her, to sense her, to carve out as much quiet time as I could for at least a month or more if possible, simply to listen, to know the essence of my soul and not to make any decisions except from that place of deep knowing.  That one piece of advice has totally changed my life.  The writers of the Tao de Ching express this concept beautifully with this imagery:

“We join spokes together in a wheel,
But it is the center hole
That makes the wagon move.
We shape clay into a pot,
But it is the emptiness inside
That holds whatever we want.
We hammer wood for a house,
But it is the inner space
That makes it livable.
We work with being,

But non-being is what we use.”

Here is an example of how I have benefited from this practice.  I had some specific things I was trying to get a yes or a no around in supporting another person’s vision.  Lots of people have wanted me to get involved with their projects.  I see the amazing things other people are doing and want to jump on board, supporting and helping them to bring about their visions.   I spend time every day in meditation and in silence and deep listening.  Week after week I would listen and week after week I would not hear that loud yes.  That kind of yes that is so huge that it is impossible to ignore, the kind of yes that every cell in your body vibrates to and you know you cannot NOT do it!  Finally the day came that I needed to give my answer.  Still I waited to hear and still there was nothing.  In that moment I knew that not getting a yes was equivalent to a “no”.  So the answer was no.

I can still feel what came out of my mouth and heart at the first fire ceremony on my women’s journey to Peru last September, “I surrender my life to Spirit.”  I realized in that moment I had thought I knew what my life was to look like, but I realized I really didn’t know.  I wanted to give it all up to Spirit, and whatever came back down was mine.  What I didn’t realize is that I would be in the mystery for months and months.  It has been a very yin time for me.  Much is happening on the inside.   And that’s okay.

As Albert Einstein states, “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

For me I’m clear now from listening to my soul all these months, that my greatest desire in life is to serve and love and to be a clear portal for the Divine to work through me.  It isn’t about my little will; it’s about the will of the Divine.  There is a big difference between what my mind tells me is important and what my soul knows is important!

My shamanic astrologer asked me what is my favorite cup of TEA [T = time, E = energy, and A = attention]?  In other words, where am I choosing to put my time, energy and attention?  And for me, I realized it was really TEAM [with the M for money].  Where am I choosing to place my Time, Energy, Attention and Money?

And what about you?  What is your favorite TEAM?  What TEAM are you rooting for? Sometimes we need to get our own team in order before we can support other teams.  We can only give what we have.

Tools that Help

  • Spend at least 15 minutes everyday with the intention of listening to your soul.  What does your soul feel like, sound like, want to say to you?
  • Journal around your favorite “TEA” and around your favorite “TEAM”.  Where are you putting your time, energy, attention and money?  Living in the third dimension these are important aspects to look at.

With Love and Light,

Kathleen
