The Fairy and the Bee Story
Walt Disney realized the power of magic and brought it into our lives when he created Disneyland. You can discover the magic in your everyday life without going to a specific destination. You can easily discover magic through setting intentions, through play and exploring, and through bringing joy, awe and appreciation fully into your life.
Magical: I love starting each day by saying, “I wonder how many amazing, incredible, miraculous and magical things will happen today before I go to bed tonight. I wonder how many people I will have the opportunity to really love and ‘see’ today.” We always find what we are looking for!
When I was in the eighth grade we were given an assignment to bring quotations to our math class. I brought in what would become one of my lifetime favorite quotations: “The difficult is that which can be done immediately. The impossible is that which takes a little longer,” by George Santayana.
I revised the quote to say: “The difficult I can do immediately. The impossible takes a little longer.” My teacher loved my quotation so much he asked me to make a huge banner that was displayed in the classroom for the entire school year.
The bee is a great example of this quotation. A bee is way too heavy and its wings are too light; it is technically impossible for a bee to fly. But they do fly!
Through antiquity, the bee is known as symbol for life.
The Fairy and the Bee Story
I would like to share with you the story of how the Fairy and the image of the Bee became a big part of the cards.
The Guiding Signs 101 card artist, Erin, and I did one of Patt Lind-Kyle’s theta meditations at each new juncture of creating the cards. (To understand more about the theta meditation, go to “Magical Insights.”) This particular meditation was one of the first we did related to the cards. In these theta meditations you walk down a hallway with colored doors on the left and right. There are also symbols on the doors. First, you stop at a door on the left and enter. The door I stopped at on the left was green. Inside there were mossy rocks and brooks and waterfalls and then an elder Fairy or Elf appeared. I told him I was there to find out what the Guiding Sign cards were to look like. He smiled and told me that that was Erin’s job; she was the artist and it was all in her very capable hands. He told me he was here to work with me in getting the cards out to the world. He showed me how he was sprinkling Fairy dust in the hearts of people and in the stores getting them ready for the cards.
In Erin’s theta meditation, she saw that the cards needed to be playful and fun. Play opens us to the right side of the brain; to our creative, intuitive side. She was able to create the playful cards with ease and grace as she was guided to what they would look like. She was shown that a bee needed to be on the box cover.
I did another theta meditation…
The Door on the right was black with star galaxies and the moon as symbols. It was like stardust–fairy dust–was infusing the project. The moon–the feminine divine–was infusing the cards with her feminine energy.
Then I saw the back side of the cards. They were to be very plain and in the center was the bee that is on the front of the box. The bee symbolizes the divine feminine goddess energy, and of her presence in bringing forth the divination cards and our intuition more fully on our planet. An additional confirming symbol during the meditation was a cute bee buzzing around happily!
One synchronistic event after another
Whitney Kear is a gifted and talented healer and yoga teacher. We met for the first time when she was doing an art show on the Mayan Calendar and a trip to Guatemala filming the documentary, “The Unification Of Wisdom and the Mayan Calendar.” Later she would join me on a women’s trip I lead to the Ecuadorean rainforest. When we saw each other in Quito and looked into each other’s eyes, it was like going back into infinity to an ancient time. We both felt it and our eyes welled up with tears.
Whitney Kear came to visit. She had stayed in the cottage on my land the year before for a few months using the cottage as a womb room to experience deep healing and clearing work. She wanted to visit and this time, she had a gift for me; a two-hour sound healing.
During our visit, when I showed her the beginning stages of the Guiding Signs 101 cards, she really understood them; she loved them. Then she had me lie down by the wood-burning stove and covered me with warm blankets until I was warm and cozy. She began playing her singing bowls and singing; her voice was so beautiful. At one point I felt myself spiraling into another reality. I was in ancient Greece at a temple I thought it was the temple of Delphi. We were Priestesses and we were preparing the bees. We were doing something at that time for this very moment in time–for now. It had to do with unleashing the bees, and humanity getting in touch with its intuition and innate wisdom.
Fairy boots for me
One day Erin showed up to work with me; she was wearing grey felt fairy boots with buttons and lined with purple silk! She asked how I liked her fairy boots and if I wanted a pair, too. In the past I would have been more serious and the thought of owning fairy boots wouldn’t even have been something I entertained. Now, after creating the cards, and having the fairies and elves show up, I couldn’t wait to have a pair of my very own fairy boots. So, she placed the order!
About a week later I had a pink slip in my mailbox saying there was a package for me at the post office. I noticed the clock as I stepped out of my car at the post office; it was 4:44 PM. I always love the magic and synchronicity when I see three like numbers in a row. With that note, I picked up my fairy boots.
The next day we were having our completion celebration for the Guiding Signs 101 Cards. As I picked up my fairy boots I thought now I have to go to Rudy’s Truffle shop for an exquisite chocolate mocha cake. After getting the cake I realized I would need vanilla ice cream to go with it. I had just been to the organic store and didn’t want to drive back. Perhaps the little market across the street carried quality ice cream.
As I walked into the old fashioned market there were two darling girls talking about fairies as their mother stood in the doorway with their big dog. I was in a hurry to get home. Normally I would have bee-lined to the car; I started to do so. Instead, I turned around and said to the little girls about age 7, “I heard you talking about fairies when you were in the store.” They squealed, “Yes,” and said they had fairies in their packages all wrapped up. I said, “Oh, I hope you take very good care of them.” The slightly older girl exclaimed, “Yes.” She was going to leave her fairy on her sister’s bed where they would be close to each other. The mother told me they had gotten their fairies at the fairy store just a few doors down. How could I live in this town and not even know about the fairy store?
I walked in and there were fairies everywhere; hanging from the ceiling and stacked on shelves; everywhere one could possibly imagine. My eye went directly to a white one; a mermaid fairy with a pearl in her hand. Just like the image I had seen on guided meditations–me as Grandmother Ocean or me as a mermaid and always holding a pearl! There she was–waiting for me! Then I chose a fairy for Erin and of course, picked up packets of fairy dust for our celebration!
The next day Erin visited; both of us in our fairy boots! We were in totally- focused work mode to finish the cards. We planned to go to the labyrinth on my property to do our celebration ritual for the Guiding Signs 101 Cards. At some point, seeing time was passing quickly, I suggested we do the celebration/ritual in the house. Erin wisely responded, “Ohhhhh no, we must do the celebration-ritual in nature and under the stars at the labyrinth.” We had a lovely dinner, topped off by the most decadent chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.
We then gathered sacred objects to take to the labyrinth for our celebration and gratitude ritual: a gold heart candle, eagle feathers, crystal, rose quartz hearts, malachite and Mother Mary essence as well as essential oil blends to amplify abundance and joy. At the center of the labyrinth, at the altar we prayed, expressing our deep gratitude. We gave thanks for all the guidance at every step of the creation of the cards. We asked for the cards to be blessed. We blessed and anointed each other with prayer, placing drops of oil on each other. The stars were shining so brightly over our heads. It was absolutely magical. At the very end, of course, we spread our fairy dust with laughter, appreciation and joy, with God inside our hearts.
Last night, as I was sleeping
by Antonio Machado (1875 – 1939)
Last night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt — marvelous error!—
that a spring was breaking
out in my heart.
I said: Along which secret aqueduct,
Oh water, are you coming to me,
water of a new life
that I have never drunk?
Last night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt — marvelous error!—
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart.
And the golden bees
were making white combs
and sweet honey
from my old failures.
Last night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt — marvelous error!—
that a fiery sun was giving
light inside my heart.
It was fiery because I felt
warmth as from a hearth,
and sun because it gave light
and brought tears to my eyes.
Last night, as I slept,
I dreamt — marvelous error!—
that it was God I had
here inside my heart.
